It wakes me from my sleep with a Sinister Whisper It talks to me It steers me It helps me sip my drink, it’s a Starter, and a Finisher A pourer Makes me poorer Chorus This black dog will never let me go, it’s slowly got to know, it’ll always get a bone This black dog makes me feel I can hold it solely, I’ll never let go, it’s a bone to me It pulls me across the street, it’s Got a hold of me It’s attached to me It’s killing me Hear me It talks to me in my sleep, it’s Unholy Involve me Stop telling me Hear me Chorus This black dog will never let me go, it’s slowly got to know, it’ll always get a bone This black dog makes me feel I can hold it solely, I’ll never let go, it’s a bone to me Outro It’s complicated It’s all weather It’s home made It’s carbonated There’s no peace You can’t get it Easy to make this All on your own It’s automated It’s home made You can’t get it It’s in the mirror It’s overrated Now it’s in the wind You can’t get it It’s home made You never made it It’s in the mirror

Glue, Love 04:44
I think of love, I think of you It’s as old as soil. It’s true, love We own the island I think of love, I think of you It’s holy, it’s all from above. It’s true, love We’re a hilltop, a galaxy I think of love, I think of you Quickly, it all came true. We’re glue, love We’re a meteor analogy Glue, Love Glue, Love Glue, Love Glue, Love I think of love, I think of you It’s as old as worms. It’s true, love We are the island I think of love, I think of you Lately, it’s all brand new. It’s true, love We’re an all night diner I think of love, I think of you It’s as old as words. It’s true, love We are the island

I thought we could change the world Alone in the mountains I hung on your every word I was low low low And I accepted the lies lies lies Because they opened doors But why why why What has it all been for You barely opened a door And you argue with you And you bring us all in too There’s no escaping you It hunts like a riot does, indiscriminately It rises like a flash flood We’ll resist In arms together We’ll persist We’ll fight forever We won’t be missed We’ll hide wherever I breathe like I’m squeezed like lime I scream like I’m all out of time I feel like a fish on a line Like leeches you bleed me dry I breathe like I’m squeezed like lime I plead for a new rotten lie Like leeches you’re on my mind You’re on my mind

Stay Down 04:07
I’m wondering why I hurt my head again I’m never gonna find my place in anything Can you see me hold on for my life Stay down He’s starting to cry He said he’s seeing things He’s never gonna make his peace with anyone Can you see him hold on for his life Stay down Left out to dry in the wind and rain again She’s never gonna shake her stick at anyone Can you see her hold on for her life Stay down

Inhale my friend There’s not a lot of time left I’m afraid I’ll be behind you It’s no contest There’s not a lot of prizes anyway I’ll hold your hands, of course While you look through the door first Sent ahead of us, you’re stronger Following you will be easier Exhale, it’s the end Never had a lot of faith, I can’t pretend I’ve anymore now It’s not for us There’s not a lot of hope here anyway I’ll hold your hand, of course While you walk through the door first Sent ahead of us, you’re stronger Following you will be easier Sent ahead of us, you’re stronger Following you will be easier

Winter Me 04:13
He takes it again, and he’s up to his eyes, right up He takes it again, and he knows he’s right He takes it again, I know he’ll deny it but Suns in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes He falls again, and he’s opened his mind right up He falls again, and he knows he’s right He falls again, I know he’s admired but He’s frozen in time Sun’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes He’s tall like a tree, and I’ve climbed to the top, right up We’ve spoken of dreams and I’ve seen his face light up He’d rather not leave, I know he’s a liar but His son’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes Sun’s in his eyes

Yours 04:21
Run to the back it sinks like that Run to the back it sinks like that Run to the back it sinks like that Run to the back it sinks like that The rivers flow from the mountain tops The hills roll into the sandy shores Fancy houses, pillars and lawns When the clouds go, the sky is yours The ancient ruins from here to Rome The history books and the gadgets All the myths and all the fables And all the crypts and all the cradles It’s all yours, it’s all yours Nothing is like it once was I want nothing now that we’re lost Have the world, it’s all yours It’s all yours, it’s all yours Nothing is like it once was I want nothing now that we’re lost Have the world, it’s all yours All the stoney trails through the forests All the music and the paintings All the paper folds and all the drawings All the photographs that we appear in All the stoney trails through the forests All the music and the paintings All the paper folds and all the drawings All the photographs that we appear in It’s all yours, it’s all yours Nothing is like it once was I want nothing now that we’re lost Have the world, it’s all yours Run to the back it sinks like that Run to the back it sinks like that Run to the back it sinks like that Run to the back it sinks like that

about

Both Diner and their debut album Fold present a series of paradoxes. Technically Fold is an elaborate record, as lead singer Clark explains “We're interested in creating music that's textured and layered. We like driving, pulsing rhythms and unconventional, but catchy hooks.” Yet on its surface Fold presents as something minimal with clinically hypnotic beats and rhythms, and deliciously spacious soundscapes.

The biggest juxtaposition is perhaps the lyrics, laying beneath a hardened, often angular, and extra-terrestrial exterior is ten emotionally scorched songs, introspective and starkly personal, with themes of loss, lies, anger and disappointment in an unfair and unpredictable world. As Clark expands “The album is about men in my life that I’ve loved and lost; the men in power that are destroying every good thing that’s left, and songs about lost love and depression.”
